In Indore, a major commercial hub in Madhya Pradesh, truckers and transporters believe that implementing a technologically advanced vehicle monitoring system at checkpoints will create a transparent framework and improve logistics flow. They estimate that around 4,000 commercial vehicles leave Indore daily, with numbers increasing during festive periods. Despite the government's efforts to replace check posts with checkpoints and eliminate some of them for smoother vehicle movement, the absence of a sufficient monitoring system is a challenge. The President of the Indore Truck Operators and Transport Association, CL Mukati, emphasized the need for a technology-based solution to supervise vehicle movements from checkpoints efficiently and prevent disruptions and alleged extortion. Various associations, including the Indore Truck Operators and Transport Association and the All India Motor Transport Congress, have urged the Transport Minister, Rao Uday Pratap Singh, to introduce a tech-based monitoring system for transparent vehicle movement from the state. Transporters have also requested the establishment of a helpline and an official app for reporting issues and complaints. The decision by the Madhya Pradesh government to remove all checkposts at interstate borders on July 1 has been welcomed by transporters, who have long advocated for this change to enhance transportation flow and reduce corruption.
